Through a combination of workshops and 1:1 sessions on CV building, interview skills, job search strategies, and career planning, participants reflect on their career paths, define their goals, and gain practical tools to support their transitions.
We were delighted to be joined by Dr Victoria Gascon-Perez who shared her inspiring journey from a successful research career in academia and technology transfer at UL to her current role as Technology Transfer Specialist at PPG. Victoria offered valuable insights into both the challenges of her job search and her experiences working in industry.
A few key takeaways from Victoria that resonated with me: researchers bring a wealth of transferable skills – including adaptability, collaboration, effective communication, forward planning, and project management – all of which are highly valued in industry. It was also lovely to see her reconnect with her former UL colleagues from Crystal Engineering!
Facilitating this programme for such a talented, engaged, and collaborative group of researchers was truly inspiring.
A huge thank you to Marguerite Leen and the UL HR Talent Development team for putting this fantastic programme together – and to all the researchers for their dedication, openness, and commitment to their professional growth.
