It was an interesting experience to deliver training in a beautiful old chapel in Kildare! I was delighted to spend two days getting to know the team at Kare which delivers a range of community-based supports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

June 25, 2025Lorraine

The Local Training Initiative is a training and work experience programme that offers a QQI-accredited Level 5 Major Award in Intellectual Disabilities Practice. The course is fully funded by the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB).

Participants took part in a CV & Interview Success Workshop, and we also delivered the workshop to a group from the Community Employment Scheme hosted by Kare. This scheme provides opportunities to gain training and work experience in frontline services, childcare, clerical, reception, accounts, and catering.

A big thank you to all the wonderful participants – you’re doing amazing work – and to the programme coordinators Leanne O’ Keeffe, Denise Kemmy, Elaine Nolan and Liz Phelan for inviting me and making me feel so welcome.
