Interview Training for Hiring Managers/ Interviewer Training/ Interviewer Skills/ In-house Workshop

In the current market organisations are competing for key talent and are experiencing skills shortages in key business areas. Significant investment is being made in talent attraction, talent acquisition and employer branding. Often the first significant interaction that a prospective employee will have with an organisation is through an interview process and they will form a lasting impression based on this experience. As an organisation have you considered how well trained your interviewers and Hiring Managers are in the following:

  • Establishing rapport with candidates and making them feel at ease.
  • Ensuring up to date employment law knowledge in relation to what type of questions are and are not deemed appropriate.
  • The importance of a clearly defined role and candidate specification.
  • How to prepare for and carry out an interview effectively as an interview panel.
  • Asking well thought out and effective interview questions that will establish if the candidate is both a cultural fit for the organisation and also a suitable fit for the specific role.
  • Use of competency/ behavioural interview questions. How to phrase these questions, how to introduce competency based questions to the candidate and what to listen out for in answers.
  • Probing and digging deeper into answers rather than accepting surface level answers from candidates.
  • How to actively listen to the candidate (verbal and non verbal listening).

  • Ensuring that the candidate’s interview experience is a positive one and the importance of employer branding.
  • Evaluating and scoring candidates objectively and providing feedback.

Workshop Format:

  • This workshop is delivered onsite/ in-house at your organisation or online. The style is interactive with a strong focus on learning by doing. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice their interviewing techniques in role play format allowing them to apply what they have learnt in a safe space.
  • Duration: 6-7 hours (depending on whether format is online or onsite and including 1 hour for lunch/ breaks)

    • What are your current challenges when it comes to interviewing candidates
